One-pot synthesis of (ethoxycarbonyl)difluoromethylthioethers from thiocyanate sodium and ethyl 2-(trimethylsilyl)-2,2-difluoroacetate (TMS-CF2CO2Et)

An efficient one-pot cascade methodology for the synthesis of (ethoxycarbonyl)difluoromethyl thioethers is described. Benzyl, allyl, alkyl halides or diazonium salts as the starting materials together with thiocyanate sodium and TMS-CF2CO2Et in the presence of CsF or NaOAc afford a variety of the fluoroalkylthiolated products in moderate to good yields.

High-efficiency perovskite solar cell using cobalt doped nickel oxide hole transport layer fabricated by NIR process

Lead halide perovskite solar cells (PVSCs) have potential toward commercialization because of their high efficiency and low cost. The hole transport layer (HTL) of p-i-n perovskite solar cell is usually made of NiOX. However, the NiOX needs to be processed at 300 C for 15 min for good hole transport property. This long heating time prohibits the development of continuous commercial process. Thus, a rapid heating process for the NiOX film deposition is critical to realize the commercialization of PVSCs in the future. In this study, we develop a facile method to obtain high quality NiOX films annealed by NIR in a short time of 50 s. A short-wave NIR lamp at 2500 K was used to systematically investigate the effect of NIR intensity on the film quality of sol-gel NiOX. The PVSCs fabricated from NIR-annealed NiOX (NIR-NiOX) film show a comparable power conversion efficiency (PCE) to those fabricated from traditional hot-plate annealed-NiOX (HP-NiOX). In addition, the NIR annealed cobalt-doped NiOX (NIR-Co:NiOX) was synthesized to replace pristine NIR-NiOX. The PCE of PVSCs fabricated from this new NiOX film can be increased from 15.99% to 17.77%, which is due to the efficient hole extraction, less charge accumulation, and reducing Voc loss resulting from the improved hole mobility, reduced interface resistance and well-matched work function. Our study paves a way to fulfill the requirements of low cost and low energy consumption of large scale production of high efficiency PVSCs.

Synthesis and structural characterization of six pentanuclear and tetranuclear Mo/W-Cu-S clusters with BIS(Diphenylphosphanyl) methane

Six heterothiometalic clusters, namely,[WS4Cu4(dppm)4]-(ClO4)2?2DMF?MeCN (1), [MoS4Cu4(dppm)4](NO3)2?MeCN (2) [MoS4Cu3(dppm)3](ClO4)?4H2O (3), [WS4Cu3(dppm)3](NO3)?4H2O (4), [WS4Cu3(dppm)3]SCN?CH2Cl2 (5), and [WS4Cu3(dppm)3]I?CH2Cl2 (6) [dppm = bis (diphenylphosphanyl)methane] were synthesized. Compounds 1?4 were obtained by the reactions of (NH4)2MS4 (M = Mo, W) with [Cu2(mu2-dppm)2(MeCN)2(ClO4)2] {or [Cu(dppm)(NO3)]2} in the presence of 1,10-phen in mixed solvent (CH3CN/CH2Cl2/DMF for 1 and 2, CH2Cl2/CH3OH/DMF for 3 and 4. Compounds 5 and 6 were obtained by one-pot reactions of (NH4)2WS4 with dppm and CuSCN (or CuI) in CH2Cl2/CH3OH. These clusters were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction as well as IR,1H NMR, and31P NMR spectroscopy. Structure analysis showed that compounds 1 and 2 are ?saddle-shaped? pentanuclear cationic clusters, whereas compounds 3?6 are ?flywheel-shaped? tetranuclear cationic clusters. In 1 and 2, the MS42- unit (M = W, Mo) is coordinated by four copper atoms, which are further bridged by four dppm molecules. In compounds 3?6, the MS42- unit is coordinated by three copper atoms and each copper atom is bridged by three dppm ligands.

Transformation from Cu2-xS Nanodisks to Cu2-xS@CuInS2 Heteronanodisks via Cation Exchange

Cationic-exchange methods allow for the fabrication of metastable phases or shapes, which are impossible to obtain with conventional synthetic colloidal methods. Here, we present the systematic fabrication of heteronanostructured (HNS) Cu2-xS@CuInS2 nanodisks via a cationic-exchange reaction between Cu and In atoms. The indium-trioctylphosphine complex favorably attacks the lateral (16 0 0) plane of the roxbyite Cu2-xS hexagon. We explain the phenomena by estimating the formation energy of vacancies and the heat of reaction required to exchange three Cu atoms with an In atom via density functional theory calculations. In an experiment, a decrease in the amount of trioctylphosphine surfactant slows the reaction rate and allows for the formation of a lateral heterojunction structure of nanoplatelets. We analyze the exact structures of these materials using scanning transmission electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. Moreover, we demonstrate that our heteronanodisk can be an intermediate for different HNS materials; for example, adding gold precursors to a Cu2-xS@CuInS2 nanodisk results in a AuS@CuInS2 nanodisk via an additional cationic reaction between Cu ions and Au ions.
