The frequencies of absorption bands are given; the frequencies of the bands at 450-530 cm-1 depend on M or the M-O bond character.

The effect was studied of the different amounts of addition of Cu complex of acetoacetic ester (P-9) to Cu acetylacetonate (P-8) on the ice-forming activity of P-8 over the temperature range -10 to -20°. The P-8: P-9 ratio was maintained at 3:1, 1:1, 1:3, and 1:6. The total number of ice crystals formed (In) increased, in mixtures containing ≤75% P-9, at temperatures more than -15°. The addition of a hygroscopic component improved the yield of ice crystals formed by 30 times.

The catalytic activity of copper bis(Et acetoacetate) (I) [14284-06-1] in the polymerization of 4,4-diphenylmethane diisocyanate  [101-68-8] with poly(ethylene glycol) (II) [25322-68-3] decreases with the growth in II mol. mass due to the reduced concentration of OH-OH-type associates and the increased contribution of O atoms of the glycol ether groups into complex formation with I. The activating influence of I depends on the stability of its complex with glycol. The activity of amine-epoxide catalysts in isocyanate cyclotrimerization was also discussed.

Visible and UV spectrophotometry revealed that oligomeric polyethylene glycol (I) forms a 1:1 complex with Cu(II) ethyl acetoacetate via coordination with both Cu and chelate group of β-diketo ester moiety. Stability constant of the complex decreases as mol. weight of I increases from 400 to 4000. Interaction between I and β-diketo ester moiety was studied to elucidate the mechanism of catalytic activity of the former in preparation of I-based polyurethanes.
