Mun, Yang Un published the artcileMetal-containing initiator systems. XXXIII. Polymerization of vinyl monomers initiated by binary system of bis(ethyl acetoacetato)copper(II) and sodium tetraphenylborate, Formula: 0, the publication is Journal of Macromolecular Science, Chemistry (1984), A21(5), 645-60, database is CAplus.
The bis(ethyl acetoacetato)copper(II) (I) [14284-06-1]–Na tetraphenylborate (II) [143-66-8] binary system effectively initiated the radical polymerizations of Me methacrylate (III) [80-62-6] and Me acrylate [96-33-3]. The overall activation energy of III polymerization with I–II in Me2CO was calculated to be 15.8 kcal/mol compared to 17.6 kcal/mol for III polymerization with I alone. The polymerization rate was represented by Rp = k[I]0.5[II]0.5[III]2.5. The high order for III concentration suggested participation of the monomer in the initiation process. This was supported by examination of visible and ESR spectra of the I–II–III-Me2CO system. Reduction of Cu(II) to Cu(I) was indicated by the ESR spectra. The spin-trapping technique was applied to the I–II–III system, and an initiation mechanism for the I–II binary system was discussed.
Journal of Macromolecular Science, Chemistry published new progress about 14284-06-1. 14284-06-1 belongs to copper-catalyst, auxiliary class Copper, name is Copper(II) ethylacetoacetate, and the molecular formula is 0, Formula: 0.
